What a great beginning to summer this past July 4th weekend. To keep these great summer weekends going, this weekend is the first concert of the Darien Summer Night Series at Weed Beach.
This Sunday, 7/11, from 5 pm to 8 pm, it’s the music of guitar impresario, John Cain. The beach opens for the concert at 4:30 pm and, from 4:30 pm on, you won’t need a beach permit to get in.
John Cain is a guitar player’s guitarist and covers genres from rock, jazz, blues, country to folk. “I love music…I love playing it and practicing it and performing it,” says John. “I love everything from John Coltrane to Delbert McClinton…Jobim to George Straitt.”
Maybe that’s why the critics say, “Cain takes beloved songs from the rock and folk eras and arranges them in inspired, solo performances…not only fun but worthy of repeats listens.”
The forecast for Sunday sounds inspiring too – 86 degrees and sunny. Some welcome relief after the summer sizzlers we’ve been having this week.
Have a listen and look at John doing a beloved song from the rock era in the video below – an awesome blues jam of the Grateful Dead and Rolling Stones classic, “Not Fade Away.”
See you Sunday.
