Singer-songwriter P.J. Pacifico delivers a confident, upbeat collection of road-tested rock/pop music. He has a radio-friendly sound that evokes Gin Blossoms and Matthew Sweet, and a storyteller’s cadence that has been compared to James Taylor.

Music by aMonGus

We are pleased to welcome another night of cool jazz to our summer concert series. aMonG us draws its name from two legendary composers, Thelonius Monk and Charles Mingus, from whom the group derives much of its inspiration and repertoire. Comprised of Connecticut natives Matt deTroy (piano), Rich Zurkowski (bass), Dave Savitsky (alto saxophone) and Hans Broecking (drums), they’ve played together for over two years, refining their sound in weekly gigs at Fat Cat Pie Company in South Norwalk. Their album of Charles Mingus songs featuring bassoonist Mark Rabinowitz of the official Mingus Orchestra was released in 2012.

Harry Bergen and Twisted Resistor is celebrating its 25th year as a band dedicated to the music of the ’60’s such as Van Morrison, the Doors, the Stones and, of course, the Beatles. The band has won the IPC Battle of the Bands competition in 2008, 2009 and 2010 playing at the Grammercy Theatre and the Filmore East. The band promises to delight audiences of all ages and especially, children of the sixties!

They have performed with musical legends such as, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr., Ray Price, Hank Thompson, Alan Jackson, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Buck Owens, Carl Perkins, and countless other country legends. They have performed for two sitting Presidents of the United States, and been voted six years in a row, Band of The Year by The New York Metropolitan Country Music Association, This Premier Country Band always brings a refreshing entertaining show for all ages to enjoy.

Singer-songwriter Leslie Costa fell in love with guitar after her cousin, Chris, let her try his 1969 Fender Stratocaster. She formed her own band in 1990 called Leslie Costa and the Usual Suspects. Her contemporaries include artists like: Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, Melissa Etherige, Sheryl Crow, Counting Crowes and Natalie Merchant.

Formed only last Spring, Lions On The Moon has already performed at legendary venues such as BB King’s, Capital Theatre and The Bitter End. The band consists of four incredibly talented young musicians — Nicky Dylan Winegardner on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Brandon “TAZ” Niederauer on lead guitar and vocals, Dylan Niederauer on bass and vocals, and Henry Thomas on drums. Their music is an original blend of rock, pop, funk, and blues that delivers a youthful, energetic and infectious new sound filled with optimism, emotion, and intent. Contemporary music fans of all kinds will applaud the Darien Summer Nights debut of Lions On The Moon.

“Chasing Day is comprised of Michael Penfield and Frank Piazza, who live in Darien, CT and have recorded with Members of Jethro Tull, Chicago, Steely Dan, Lady Gaga, Doobie Brothers, Three Dog Night and others. Their sound is Aspen meets Nashville with acoustic guitars and harmonies. Chasing Day has released one album of original music and plays a blend of original music and covers from Jason Aldean, Counting Crows, Zac Brown, Grateful Dead, Traffic, Blake Shelton, and many others! They are working on their second album now!”

The Adam Ezra Group (AEG) is not just a band; they are a force to be reckoned with musically, personally and socially. Selling records and tickets is important to AEG, but they are committed to changing the world with their songs and their actions along the way. Ezra and his band are activists and community leaders as much as they are musicians and songwriters. Ezra has spent time living out of a van, farming in Canada, volunteering for the relief effort in Kosovo, and practicing environmental geography in South Africa. Whether as a kitchen hand or carpenter, teacher, athlete, or traveler, Ezra crams it all into the music, always challenging our perspective and often teetering somewhere between the ballsy rocker and sensitive poet. Through their non profit organization, RallySound, AEG helps people organize live music events that inspire communities and encourage grassroots activism.

Experience specializes in impassioned 21st Century postmodern jazz laced with their own distinctive vibe. Local saxophonist Matt Criscuolo joins New York City jazz standouts Tony Campbell on drums, Gerald Canon on bass and Tony Purrone on guitar to make up the band. You won’t want to miss a single free-form note when this group of skilled and ultra creative performers cools off the Darien night.

Music by DimennaMania

Join Lynn, Meredith and Tom DiMenna for a night of comedy and song. For over 20 years, the DiMennas have been one of Darien’s most prolific performing families, as individual performers and recording artists. Lynn DiMenna is known throughout Fairfield County and beyond as a vocalist as well as a radio producer/personality for WRTN and WVOX. She will be joined by two of her four children, vocalist Meredith DiMenna, who will perform selections from her show “Queen of the Beatniks” and comedic actor Tom DiMenna, who will perform selections from his show “Telly Savalas Live”, both of which were presented earlier this year at Joe’s Pub, one of NYC’s premier venues. Accompanied by Assaf Gleizner on piano, Steve Doyle on bass and Emil Halas on guitar.

Grateful Dead cover band

The Spadtastics band formed in 2006. The band consists of many members of past local Darien bands (Milc, Nick the Fin and Magic Garden). The name “Spadtastics” comes from the late Darien resident and former band leader, David Spadacinni who was the inspiration for this new band. The band covers the popular music of the Grateful Dead which songs were a fixture back in our DHS/College days. Due to family schedules and professions, the band only plays a concert once-a-year.

Doug Allen is a Connecticut-based independent singer/songwriter. For the past 10 years, he has performed throughout the northeast, appearing with acts such as Jeffrey Gaines, Edwin McCain, Blue Oyster Cult, The Radiators, NRBQ, GE Smith and John Entwhistle of the Who.
